POLICE spotted on a residential street in beggarwood were called to assist the ambulance service with a ‘serious medical emergency’, it has been confirmed.

Reports of police presence on Beggarwood Lane led some in the area to speculate as to the reasons.

Posting on Facebook, one resident said that there has been an incident leading to road closure on the residential street, close to Ferndown Close.

However, Hampshire Constabulary told the Gazette that the road was not closed, but “officers did attend Beggarwood Lane today assisting SCAS after a man had a medical episode”.

Another resident in the area added that they had heard "loads of sirens" and "hope everyone's ok".

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said they can confirm the team attended a “serious medical emergency” on Beggarwood Lane today, but could not provide any further information.
