A NEW café or shop could be opening in Basing View on the ground floor of Eli Lilly’s new headquarters.
Work to the 42,528 square foot five-storey office building, called Benchmark, began in 2019 but was delayed because of the pandemic.
It has since resumed and is set to be complete later this year when pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company will move in, relocating from Priestley Road.
The plans include a roof terrace and a multi-storey car park next to the office building.
Morgan Sindall Construction was appointed by Muse Developments as the main contractor for the scheme, which will include a retail unit or café on the ground floor, the occupiers of which are yet to be announced.
The development will be owned by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as its second largest asset, and was jointly funded by the council, the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership and the Invest to Grow Fund.
