A BASINGSTOKE college is set to hold its annual apprenticeship recruitment fair - though this year proceedings will be online.

For the fourth year running, Basingstoke College of Technology’s fair will be taking place again this year on Tuesday, February 9, from 5pm to 7pm.

For the first time ever the event will be taking place online, as part of National Apprenticeships Week.

A spokesman for BCoT said: “Although this year’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair will look different to previous years, a number of employers have continued to get involved in the event, which aims to give those in search of a job or training opportunities the chance to find out how apprenticeships can give them a head start in the job market or get them higher up the ladder if they’re already in work.

They continued: “Lumen, Fujitsu, Royal Air Force, Sandford Springs and Basingstoke and Deane are just some of the employers who will give students, parents and employers an insight into what an apprenticeship entails.”

The college’s apprenticeship team, Aspiral Learning, will be hosting a live Q&A session on the night for all to ask any further or specific questions.

Aspiral Learning is one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in the region working with both large and small employers across a range of sectors.

More than 60 different apprenticeships are available to people of all ages from Level 2 to degree level. This means apprentices can start their career knowing they will gain all the skills and qualifications they need to succeed in industry without being in debt at the end of their training.

Principal Anthony Bravo said: “Apprenticeships are a great way of gaining recognised qualifications, workplace experience and skills while earning a salary. If you’re interested in starting an apprenticeship in September but are yet to find an employer, this is a perfect opportunity to hear from and explore a wide range of employers and also chat to our knowledgeable apprenticeship team.”

BCoT is a co-educational further education college that was rated 'good' by Ofsted during their last recent in 2016. It is based on Worting Road and offers students a broad range in courses from hair and barbering, media games and design, catering and sciences.
