Special Mention: Trawlerman in Chineham

This fish and chips has been permanently closed. However, Trawlerman still remains in the memories of many readers who said it used to be the best shop in Basingstoke.

Vicky Haycox wrote: "It was The Trawlerman in Chineham [the best] before it closed."

It was a family-run shop that served the community for more than three decades.

The business used to boast a five-star Fish and Chip quality award, as well as winning a Good Chippy award in 2016 and a Quality Fryers Award.

However, with the lease expiring, its owners retiring and potential redevelopment of the centre, the shop permanentlyshut its doors in March 2019.
