A TOTAL of 232 people tested positive for Covid in Basingstoke and Deane yesterday, representing a weekly increase of 35 per cent.
Almost 1,000 people in the borough tested positive for the virus in the last seven days, giving a rate per 100,000 of the population of 460.4.
Data from Public Health England shows that there are now 165 patients in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), with seven on ventilation.
This is the highest number of patients with the virus that have been in the hospitals at the same time since the pandemic began.
At the hight of the pandemic in April, the largest total of Covid patients in HHFT hospitals was 144.
The current hospital figures show up to January 5.
