THIS is the moment a Domino's delivery driver reversed into a parked car - then drove off without leaving their details.

Kevin Ward, whose car was damaged, is now calling on the pizza restaurant chain to repay £150 for return of the hire vehicle he was using while his own car was being repaired.

The incident happened behind Coleman Close in Oakridge on Wednesday, September 30.

"Domino's had just delivered to a neighbour. Upon leaving, he reversed into my car and then sped off. He never left any details. You can tell by the video he is not paying attention to driving as his indicator goes off then he puts it back on again," he told The Gazette.

CCTV footage has captured the moment the delivery man returning to his Ford before he begins to reverse out of the block of garages and knocks into a car in the background.

Mr Ward, 41, said he took the footage to the police but was told it was an insurance issue.

He complained to Domino's who agreed to take the car away for repairs. But Mr Ward still had to shell out £150 for the late return of the leased vehicle, despite it not being his fault.

“After a lot of me chasing them [Domino’s], they finally got my car taken away for repair. I was given a courtesy car but it leaked and ruined by trousers so I had to change it and get a new one."

Mr Ward said he is unhappy about the handling of the incident.

“Upon the car being fixed they called to say it will be back with me the next day. I never received a call from the driver to say when it would arrive then out of the blue in the afternoon, the driver called to say he was there. I was at work at the time, so he left the car there. I finished late that night and started early the next day, so couldn’t return the hired car [in time]."

As a result, the earliest Mr Ward was able to return the hire car was Tuesday - by which point Enterprise had charged him a £150 late return fee.

He told The Gazette: "Domino’s has only covered the majority of the rental saying I could have got the car back before. But I couldn’t as I work in Alton. I have been billed for two additional days, totalling in £149.04 which Domino’s will now not cover.

“I have spoken with the regional manager who has tried to help but will not cover the £149.04.”

A spokesperson for Domino’s said: “Mr. Ward contacted us two weeks ago and informed us that the insurance company had charged him £150 for late return of the loan vehicle he was using while his car was repaired. As this was an insurance matter, we advised him to get a refund from them direct.  He informed us on Tuesday that they had rejected his request.

“We are currently taking up this case on his behalf with the insurance company and will report back to him as soon as possible.”
