Wiltshire Police have appealed for help finding the owners of a safe which is believed to have been stolen from outside the county.
Officers had flagged down a Renault Scenic with a faulty headlight that was heading from the Hampshire direction into Collingbourne Ducis at around 8pm on December 16.
The car then failed to stop, with police pursuing as the occupants threw items from it. It was then pulled over onto a driveway as the occupants fled into the woods.
Wiltshire Police described the three men as wearing grey tracksuits and balaclavas.
A large brown safe was then discovered in the back of the Scenic, which officers are now keen to reunite with its owners, who they believe came from outside Wiltshire.
Det Con Anthony Swift said: "We believe this safe was taken from a property outside of Wiltshire and need the rightful owner to contact us so we can return it to them.
"We'd also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the occupants of this car fleeing the scene or saw anyone acting suspiciously in or nearby the village yesterday evening.
"If you help or recognise the safe, please contact us on 101 quoting crime reference number 54200124556."
