A technical hitch meant finalists in the Inspire Awards have had to wait a day to find out if they are the winners.

The annual event had been switched to a live screening because of the restrictions caused by Covid-19. However, all those who tuned in to find out who the winners were at 4pm yesterday were simply met with a blank screen.

Kathryn Nield, the organiser of the event, said it was with “great reluctance and sadness that we are having to abandon the possibility of running a virtual Inspire Business Awards".

She added: “We would like to apologise to everyone that has taken the time and effort to log on and appreciate your frustration, we are feeling it too.”

However, they were planning to be back on screen today.

She said Face TV, who had been hosting the event, have been testing and re-testing this morning and they hope to broadcast a recording of the presentation from 2pm today.

She was contacting all the finalist and sponsors thanking them for their patience adding: “ whilst we have been putting plan B into action and apologise for the wait, we are now able to confirm that the awards ceremony will be posted on YouTube at 2pm today.

“It will be possible to watch using the link here. Announcement will also be made live on social media so if you are unable to watch at this time it may still be possible for you to see the announcements. The ceremony will be available to watch at a later time and date also.”
