A Basingstoke man is appealing to the help of the public to find out who dumped a distinctive blue sofa down a country lane.

Grant Linton was left disgusted when he spotted the bright settee, along with other disregarded goods, on Rooksdown Lane this morning.

The public access road, which leads to Weybrook Park, has been targeted by fly-tippers previously.

Grant told The Gazette his message to the person responsible is simple: "Would the lazy moron who couldn't be bothered to use the tip please come back and clear this up yourself?"

Basingstoke Gazette: Do you recognise this sofa bed? Do you recognise this sofa bed?

Photographs show what looks like a distinctive bright blue sofa bed as well as a mirror and a hub cab.

In recent months, authorities warned about dodgy waste removal companies offering to collect unwanted items before ditching them.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has been contacted for comment.
