Basingstoke MP Maria Miller is self-isolating after being contacted by Test and Trace.

Politics Home reports the MP for Basingstoke is isolating after sitting next to Lee Anderson in the Commons on November 11.

Mrs Miller was contacted by NHS Test and Trace on Sunday evening (November 15) after coming into contact with Mr Anderson.

She is now in self-isolation and says it is "crucial" that people also self-isolate should they be contacted.

She told The Gazette: "On Sunday evening I got a text from NHS Test and Trace to say that I had been in contact with someone who had subsequently tested positive for Covid-19, therefore I am self-isolating as instructed by the NHS.

"It is crucial that everyone follows the guidance to play their part in helping to stop the spread of this virus.”

“Both I and my Parliamentary team continue to work remotely to ensure constituents are able to get the support that they need during this Pandemic.”

Mr Anderson has tested positive for coronavirus. The pair join Prime Minister Boris Johnson and fellow MPs Lia Nici, Brendan Clarke-Smith, Andy Carter, Jacob Young, Chris Clarkson and Katherine Fletcher who are also self-isolating.
