Tesco has recalled its 16 Spicy Chorizo Slices 80g because the product contains Listeria monocytogenes.

The product has the use by date of December 19 2020 and is unsafe to eat.

Symptoms caused by the organism Listeria monoytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Advice from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) states if you have bought the  product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers which explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
