A BASINGSTOKE woman has turned her garden into a Halloween extravaganza this spooky season.

Tracy Strange of Osborne Close, Oakridge, has decked out her front garden with a huge array of Halloween decorations, including making her own dead bodies to hang, fencing off her house derelict building-style, and putting up a six-foot mechanical butler.

“This is our first Halloween in this house. Before we were in a smaller house and didn’t have space for a full display, so this is our first time doing it in four years. It’s kind of crazy!

“The big guy holding the tray is called Bertie Butler, my daughter named him that when she was three.”

Tracy says her love for Halloween only began when she had her daughter, but that she is now “the Halloween Queen”.

She previously worked as a bartender and security guard at a nightclub, but hasn’t been able to find work after being made redundant as a result of the pandemic - leaving her with spare time and a desire to focus on something creative.

“I’m not working at the moment due to the coronavirus. The Halloween festivities help you get through the winter days, especially this year. I just love all the toys you can get. I started putting the display together two weeks ago!” she said.

Tracy is excited to celebrate the spooky day with daughter Molly, 12, son Seth, 8, and partner Alan, who all get dressed up for the occasion - although she says, with just a few days to go, she’s still deciding on the costumes.

“They love it,” she said.

“I have a huge box of dressing up clothes. We’re really excited.”

Tracy hopes others will walk past her house and enjoy the display, as she acknowledges it's been a tough few months for everyone.

“I just hope it isn’t raining on the day!”
