LIZZY Hamer scored two and set up another as Burnley FC Women came from behind to beat Loughborough Foxes 3-1.
The home team opened the scoring shortly before half-time after both teams missed earlier chances before a resurgent Burnley – led by Hamer – stormed back in the second half.
The win follows two successive defeats and the Clarets climb to seventh place in FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division.
Following an open, end-to-end first half, the Foxes opened the scoring two minutes before the break when Charlotte Cooper forced the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.
After some words of guidance from manager Matt Bee, and the introduction of new signing Chloe Mapp, Burnley started the second half on the front foot and were soon on level terms when Hamer fired home from the edge of the area.
Five minutes later, goalscorer Hamer turned provider as she slipped the ball through to Katie Thomas who drilled her shot beyond the outstretched hand of Holly Mayfield in the Foxes goal.
And the comeback was complete in the 66th minute when the influential Hamer blasted home from 25 yards to put the Clarets 3-1 up.
Mee’s side had chances to increase their lead on several occasions with Evie Priestley firing over from close range, Thomas denied by Mayfield while Nicola Worthington saw her goal-bound effort blocked.
But the Foxes had their chances too and should have reduced the deficit but this time another goalmouth scramble was cleared to safety by the Burnley defence.
The Clarets entertain Stoke City Women at Padiham FC on Sunday.
