A PRIMARY school in Basingstoke has confirmed that it has not had any outbreaks of coronavirus.

Great Binfields Primary School in Chineham confirmed to the Gazette that it had not reported any Covid cases since the school reopened fully in September.

Jules Roger, headteacher, said: "We have had no coronavirus outbreaks. There are no cases."

The news comes after five new coronavirus cases were reported in Basingstoke and Deane yesterday.

So far, 1,139 people have tested positive for the virus in the borough since the start of the outbreak.

Since schools and colleges returned in September, several have confirmed that a student has received a positive test.

A member of staff at Basingstoke College of Technology was diagnosed with the virus at the end of last month, whilst Preston Candover school also confirmed that one person in the "school community" had tested positive.

One positive case was also confirmed at Robert May's School in Odiham last month.

Elsewhere in Hampshire, Stockbridge Primary School was forced to close last week after three confirmed cases.
