THE final charity has been announced for the Salisbury Monopoly game - which hits shelves at 10am tomorrow morning.

Homelessness charity Alabaré Christian Care & Support will be the third and final charity immortalised on one of the game's Community Chest squares, along with Salisbury Hospice and the Stars Appeal.

Alabaré Chief Executive Andrew Lord, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours, said: "Alabaré was founded in Salisbury 30 years ago next year in response to a growing need to help the homeless and vulnerable.

Salisbury Journal:

"Salisbury is our home and one we are passionate about. Over the past thirty years we have supported thousands off the streets, by providing a secure home, a programme of support, training and education so they have the confidence and opportunity to live fulfilling lives.

"To be recognised by the residents of Salisbury to be one of the key organisations here is just wonderful and we thank them so much for their vote."

The public was invited to suggest, recommend and nominate charities – as were the charities themselves.

"The three Salisbury charity Monopoly spaces on each of the game’s three Community Chest squares is our way of thanking the public for getting behind the game so very enthusiastically," says a spokesperson for Winning Moves UK, makers of the new game under license from Monopoly owners Hasbro.

“A very big congratulations to Alabaré Christian Care and Support. They secured a huge amount of votes from the public.”

Salisbury Journal:

At the time of the Salisbury Monopoly announcement, the public was invited to vote for general landmarks to feature in the game.

Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Old Sarum and Stonehenge each polled “exceptionally well,” added the Winning Moves UK spokesperson. "We would like to formally thank each and every person who sent in nominations. The game will be featuring the great and good of the city – and is, in effect, A Love Letter to Salisbury. We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this edition together.”

The new edition will hit the shops at 10am on Wednesday, October 14, at all good toy and book stores including WHSmith, Waterstones, The Works, Ryman and very widely online, including on Amazon.
