SAINTS frontman Danny Ings admitted he was “over the moon” after opening his account for England.

The 28-year-old made his first start for the Three Lions against Wales on Friday – and made his mark with a spectacular overhead kick to find the net in the second half.

It was Ings’s first England goal on his third appearance at senior level for his country. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Connor Coady also netted in a 3-0 victory for the hosts.

Speaking about his goal, the Saints striker said: "It’s a huge moment for me, I think it’s a great progression for me in my career.

“To come out and start for my country is huge, and to score a goal as well is just fantastic and I’m over the moon.

"It would’ve been nicer to score in a full stadium, but you’ve got to respect the rules and everything that is going on.

“We would’ve loved them (the fans) to be in here cheering us on and pushing us to get the win like we did, but hopefully soon that will change.

"Just to score the goal, I’m lost for words and extremely happy."

Ings could be involved when England host Belgium at Wembley later today (5pm).
