DOG owners in Basingstoke are being warned to "be vigilant", after reports of attempted dog thefts from gardens and parks.
In a social media post, Basingstoke police wrote: "We have been made aware of a local issue within Basingstoke, whereby unknown persons have been attempting to take dogs from gardens and taking dogs off their leads when walking around local parks.
"We are issuing advice to residents of Basingstoke to not leave their dogs unattended in parks and if you wish to let them off the lead please be vigilant and aware of who is around.
"Also make sure that if you let your children walk your dog, make sure there is an adult present with them."
