A YOUNG roe deer "appears to have been killed a dog" at a nearby nature reserve.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust says "it has been made aware" of the incident at its Landford Bog Nature Reserve near Salisbury.

They say it may have been the case that the dog in question had been let off its lead and was running unsupervised at the reserve.

The Trust added: "People are welcome onto Trust-owned and -managed land and may bring their dogs on some of the reserves, but we remind visitors that dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times and walked along paths for the safety of wildlife, livestock, our other visitors, and the dogs themselves.

"We thank the overwhelmingly majority of visitors to our reserves who walk their dogs responsibly".

Wiltshire Police has been contacted for comment.
