STUART Armstrong is one of five Saints players who have received international call-ups ahead of next week's fixtures.

Following Sunday's clash against West Brom at St Mary's, Saints will be without a game until October 17 with national team games taking over.

Armstrong, who returned from Scotland duty with a quad injury earlier this month, has again been selected to represent his country.

Scotland face a home triple header with a European Championship play-off against Israel next Thursday, before Nations League clashes with Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Defender Jannik Vestergaard is also set for three games. Denmark are due to host Faroe Islands in a friendly before Nations League fixtures away at Iceland and England.

Shane Long will hope to add to his 83 Republic of Ireland caps when they take on Slovakia in a play-off game ahead of next summer's European Championship.

Stephen Kenny's men will then host Wales before heading to Finland in the Nations League.

Also in Nations League action could be Jan Bednarek after the defender was called up by Poland.

Jerzy Brzeczek's side host Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina, after playing Finland in a friendly next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Moussa Djenepo is back on the international scene with Mali.

The Eagles have arranged friendly games with Ghana and Iran.
