A RARE Beluga cargo plane was spotted in the skies by one of the Gazette's camera club members.

It was one of five built by Airbus to transport its aeroplane parts around Europe.

The aircraft, identified as F-GXLH, cost a staggering €183million and is unusual as it open from the front.

Basingstoke Gazette Camera Club member Gavin Turner managed to get a picture when the gigantic plane was flying around 36,000 above Basingstoke.

The aircraft was flying between Toulouse and Chester.

Airbus is the biggest aerospace manufacturer in Europe and is seen as the European equivalent to Boeing.

Airbus's annual turnover last year was €71billion.
