Tesco has introduced a three-item limit on a number of products as the UK begins to panic buy.

The supermarket chain has said restrictions will now apply on products such as:

  • Flour
  • Dried pasta
  • Toilet roll
  • Baby wipes
  • Anti-bacterial wipes

There are additional limits online on items such as rice and tinned vegetables.

A Tesco spokesperson has said We have good availability, with plenty of stock to go round, and we would encourage our customers to shop as normal,"

To ensure that everyone can keep buying what they need, we have introduced bulk-buy limits on a small number of products."

Yesterday (September 25) , Morrisons became the first supermarket to reintroduce limits.

A new 'three per person' limit applies on:

  • Hand sanitizers
  • Hand wash
  • World foods rice
  • World foods flour
  • World foods oil
  • Toilet paper
  • Bathroom cleaning
  • Floor cleaning
  • Glass and window cleaning
  • Kitchen cleaning
  • Multi-purpose cleaning
  • Bleach
  • Disinfectant
  • Toilet care bleach and disinfectant
  • Kitchen roll

Our social media followers have reportedly seen shoppers stocking up on items such as disinfectant, loo roll and milk.

One resident even saw  a staff member in Tesco Metro buying 12 cans of disinfectant spray.

Other supermarket chains such as Lidl, Aldi, Asda, and Sainsbury’s told the Gazette on Wednesday that there was ‘good availability’ of all products in their stores.
