Coronavirus cases in St Albans have risen sharply.
New figures for the seven days leading up to Tuesday (September 12) show that the number of virus cases in St Albans are now the worst in the county.
In this time frame, St Albans recorded a rate of 35 per 100,000 after 52 new cases were recorded.
Followed behind St Albans is Welwyn Hatfield with a rate of 30.9 per 100,00 after 38 new cases were recorded.
In third was Stevenage, which recorded a rate of 30.7 per 100,000 after 27 new cases were recorded, while Hertsmere lies fourth with a rate of 28.6 per 100,000 after 30 new cases were recorded.
Elsewhere in the rest of England, Bolton is currently the worst affected local authority which a worrying rate of 196.1 per 100,000.
A total of 564 new cases were recorded in the week leading up to September 12 here.
There are now worries that the increase in cases will lead to a second national lockdown however the government have not yet announced anything around this.
So far the UK has seen 41,664 deaths within a positive test of the virus and 374,228 people have tested positive.
