A TEENAGER will appear at court next month accused of facilitating the rape of a child after grooming her.

Joshua James Wheeler, of Pennine Way, Buckskin, is alleged to have attempted to meet the girl, who is under the age of 16, at Basingstoke station on September 3.

The 19-year-old also is said to have engaged in sexual communication with her via Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp.

Basingstoke Magistrates' Court heard that because the offence was so serious, it must be tried in a Crown Court.

He will appear at Winchester Crown Court on October 7, 2020. No pleas have been entered to any of the three charges.

A BASINGSTOKE man has been disqualified from driving after being found using his phone whilst driving on the M3.

Martin Andrei, of New Street, was behind the wheel of his Mercedes Sprinter van on January 26 when he was spotted using his mobile.

The offence occurred at junction 5 whilst he was travelling in the direction of London.

After pleading guilty via single justice procedure, magistrates were told a disqualification from driving was obligatory due to repeat offending.

The 25-year-old was disqualified from holding a licence for six months, as well as being fined £123.

He was also asked to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.

TWO TEENAGERS from Basingstoke will stand trial later this year accused of affray.

The boys, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, are accused of using or threatening unlawful violence in Basingstoke on September 12, 2019.

The case has been adjourned until November 23, where they will stand trial at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

They have been released on unconditional bail, and both have pleaded not guilty.

A MAN from Kingsclere has appeared in court charged with domestic violence.

Brandon Rawlings, of South Road, is alleged to have assaulted a woman in Basingstoke on January 26.

The 21-year-old pleaded not guilty at a previous hearing in March.

The case will next appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on September 25, at which an all options pre-sentence report will be prepared.

AN OVERTON man will stand trial next month accused of domestic abuse.

Darren Kevin Barnes, of Sprents Lane, is accused of assaulting a woman on August 22, which he denies.

He is also denies damaging the complainant's iPhone 5S on August 21, as well as clothing belonging to her between August 18 and 22.

However, the 36-year-old has pleaded guilty to the assault of the same victim on August 21.

The trial will take place on September 15 at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Barnes has been remanded into custody until that date.

A CONVICTED sex offender will appear in court next month after allegedly not complying with a notification requirement.

Danny Leon Freeman, of Black Dam, is accused of breaching his notification requirement, after staying at an address in Farnborough and not notifying police, and coming in contact with children.

His case has been sent to Winchester Crown Court, where he will appear on October 7. He has been remanded on bail, and must not enter a named road in Farnborough as well as have contact with anyone under the age of 16 without their parents being notified of his convictions by police.
