A YELLOW weather warning has been put in place across parts of the UK today as thunderstorms are expected in Bracknell and Reading.

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in place for parts of the UK including London and the south east.

The Met Office said "there is a small chance that fast flowing or deep floodwater could suddenly occur, bringing a danger to life and flooding of homes and businesses".

It continued: "There is a greater chance that spray, sudden flooding, standing water and/or hail will result in rapidly changing, dangerous driving conditions."

There is a chance that power and other essentials such as gas, water or mobile phone services could be lost and a chance of damage to buildings and structures from lightning strikes, hail and strong winds, it added.

Reading

The Met Office website says it will be cloudy but dry in Reading until 5pm when light rain is expected.

Thunderstorms are due to begin at 6pm and will continue until midnight.

Today there will be highs of 26 degrees at 4pm and lows of 20 degrees at midnight.

Sunset will be at 8:29pm.

Bracknell

The Met Office website says it will be cloudy but dry in Bracknell until 5pm when thunderstorms are expected.

These thunderstorms are expected to last until 11pm tonight.

Today there will be highs of 25 degrees at 2pm and lows of 20 degrees at midnight.

Sunset will be at 8:28pm.
