Traffic on the M3 this morning
A car fire early this morning brought traffic through Basingstoke to a crashing halt.
A picture taken on the M3 near Junction 5 Northbound showed smoke in the distance coming from the affected vehicle at around 7am.
As a result, two lanes were blocked which in turn resulted in 45 minute delays for travellers through that area.

As of 8.20am, one lane remain blocked, with 25 minute delays still impacting drivers.
The fire has now been extinguished, but crews are still attempting to remove the vehicle.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue have been contacted for further comment.
