NO OFFENCES have been committed by the occupants of a silver Ford Fiesta which had "showed interest in a family dog", police have said.

North Flintshire Police issued a warning to be "cautious" of the vehicle and its occupants on Saturday (August 8) with it “claimed to be looking for scrap metal but showed interest in a family dog”.

However, police issued a subsequent update on Tuesday which states that the occupants were stopped and "spoken to" by officers - with no criminal offences said to have been "identified at this time".

But the force is encouraging people to "continue to take measures to protect their property and family pets".

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We really appreciate the information passed to us from the community in relation to the silver Ford Fiesta and its occupants, who were seen in the area.

"We can reassure the public that we have made enquiries, the vehicle has been stopped and the occupants spoken to by police following these reports. No criminal offences have been identified at this time.

"We are grateful to the public for their vigilance and would ask them to continue to take measures to protect their property and family pets."
