It is rare for me to get passionate about something, but ice skating is one of those things. It took me 30 years to find this sport, and I don't want to let it go without a fight.

The ski slopes are opening, so why not ice rinks?

Like everyone else in the skating community, I miss the therapeutic isolation of training, as well as the comrarderie and support of skating with friends.

We all know we skate at a distance, and so much hard work has been put in by the rink staff and our coaches to make it safe.

Somehow ice skating has been classified as a leisure activity. This does not represent the sport as it truly is. Ice skating is a sport from all levels - grassroots up to olympic level.

We need this for our physical and mental wellbeing. There's been too many delays and last minute changes to the opening dates.
