It's time to get out your BBQs as the weather in Basingstoke is predicted to be hotter than Tenerife, with highs of 31C on Friday.

Areas will reach as high as 31C, as the town is set to bask beneath bright skies and warm sunshine.

The Met Office said: "Basingstoke is in an area that will be among the warmer temperatures.

"We are expecting temperatures of 33C to be the UK maximum, but it may be higher than that.

"It will be the warmest day of the month."

According to Accuweather, Friday will be: "Breezy in the morning with abundant sunshine followed by sun and areas of high clouds; very warm."

The Met Office website also said: "It will be sunny, changing to light showers by early evening."

It comes after an unseasonably cold and wet day yesterday on Monday.

Residents will be pleased that the weather will improve over the course of this week. Tomorrow is going to reach 22C while Thursday will get hotter still at 26C.

And on Friday, the town will enjoy bright sunshine throughout the day for many, with the Met Office expecting a peak of 29C at 4pm.

However, other weather forecasters believe it will be even hotter. BBC Weather predicts 30C for Basingstoke while Google Weather predicts highs of 31C.

Tenerife is set to have highs of 26C on Friday, according to the BBC - making Basingstoke at least 4C hotter.

Temperatures will still be warm in most areas over the weekend, although they’ll see a slight drop from Friday.

The Met Office said: “A brief very warm spell is likely for many areas at the end of this week with a good deal of sunshine, although increasing cloud may bring rain to the northwest. It may become hot in southeastern areas.”

And Saturday, August 1 will be the brightest of the two days over the weekend, with many parts of the UK set to see sunny intervals throughout the day.

Sunday may be cloudier in some parts, with some areas set to see light showers.
