Dear Editor,

As the ward councillors for Norden we wanted to tell you of the great response we have had from local residents to our survey on the closure of Vyne Road and Chapel Hill Bridges.

We really welcome the news that Hampshire County Council are going to open up Vyne Road and Chapel Hill from Friday. We've worked closely with the South View Residents Association and residents throughout South View to make sure their voice was heard.

We've received over 100 responses to our local survey of residents, with some really detailed responses showing how strongly people feel.

  • 87 people said no to closing Chapel Hill and no to closing Vyne Road.
  • 2 people said yes to closing Chapel Hill and also Vyne Road;
  • 8 people said no to closing Chapel Hill and yes to Vyne Road;
  • 2 people said don’t know about Chapel Hill and yes to Vyne Road;
  • 7 people said no Chapel Hill and don’t know about Vyne Road;

Residents are really pleased to hear the news and have told us they are pleased that County have now listened and opened up the two bridges.

We know that traffic in Norden only has four ways in and out of our ward. Chapel Hill is a main route north and south through the town.

Residents and us are so pleased that common sense has prevailed.

Cllr Paul Harvey & Cllr Laura James
