A BASINGSTOKE man has pleaded guilty to drinking whilst under the influence of alcohol under lockdown, Basingstoke Magistrate's Court heard.
Nick Cox, 43, of Mitchell Gardens, has been slapped a £648 fine this morning for drink-driving a vehicle down Brighton Way on May 29 2020.
The court heard how he woke up and drove the vehicle from his home address, purchased items en route and was stopped by police.
Cox was found to have consumed 55 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, thus exceeding the limit.
Representing Cox on Tuesday morning, Mr Morgan, said: "He seemed to be evasive and accepts he was under the influence of alcohol.
"He has three children and a wife.
"His wife will bear the brunt of driving him to and from work.
"He is ashamed of his actions and is deeply sorry.
"His employer said Cox is someone who has made such an impression, with his commitment and diligence, and therefore he will hold onto his employment."
Chair of Magistrate's, Mrs Rimmer, gave Cox a £648 fine, and disqualified him immediately from driving.
