A pubgoer has hailed Wetherspoons for "great social distancing" as pubs reopened for the first time in months over the weekend.

Customer assistant, Eisha Venn, 20, from Tadley, told the Gazette: "The Maidenhead Inn was lush. "It was well maintained and the social distancing was great.

"I had a lovely time with my fiancé drinking a few beers with her, it's been a while."

Eisha only had to wait 15 minutes to enter the pub at 8pm on Saturday, July 4.

She said Wetherspoon's cleaned the tables before customers entered and found it easy to order her pints of beer through the app.

"It was great to get out of the house after months of lockdown.

"It was definitely really good and relaxed.

"I'll be back again," the 20-year-old added.

A Wetherspoon spokesman, Eddie Gershon, said: “ The reopening at both The Angel and The Maidenhead Inn went very well.

“Both pubs were busy, with no problems at all, and everything ran very smoothly.

“We were delighted to welcome back our staff and customers to the pubs after a lengthy closure.”
