A “demonstration of unity and solidarity” has been organised for this upcoming weekend.

On Saturday an event is taking place at War Memorial Park, with the goal of educating the public about the issues impacting the town’s black community.

There will be presentations, talks and performances.

Organiser Jen Campbell said: “This is a peaceful gathering to unite and stand together at a time of despair , confusion, sadness and anger. Unite against systemic racism - be part of the change.”

The event will follow social-distancing guidelines and those attending are asked to wear protective masks and face coverings.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event at War Memorial Park, starting at 4pm.

As the Gazette has previously reported, a number of anti-racism protests have been taking place in Basingstoke over the past week as the black community highlights the injustices that still exist in the UK today.
