With students returning to the classroom this week, safety has been a big talking point.
For the team Chiltern Primary School, one such measure to keep people safe can be seen right as you enter in the form of a bespoke safety screen for the reception area.
Phil Clarke, head of Chiltern Primary had contacted its feedere secondary school Cranbourne in May asking for help.
The school’s large reception area has an open plan design and the reception desk needed an added layer of protection.
A plea for help was sent out to Cranbourne and Mr Roemer, design teacher of Cranbourne took up the challenge and the screens were fitted on Monday.
Mr Roemer explained, “We have specially designed this to accommodate an opening to pass items through, while ensuring the final product is aesthetically pleasing.”
The head of Chiltern, who was delighted with his screen said: “ A huge thank you to Cranbourne for the screens.
"They have certainly made a difference this end and the reception team will really appreciate them and allow them to go about their duties with growing confidence.”
Mrs Aplin, the head of Cranbourne praised the work of Mr Roemer; “ He has worked over the weekends to get the job done. It’s an absolute a pleasure to be able to support other schools to keep all in Basingstoke safe and confident, as we begin our return to school.”
