A Basingstoke business rolled up its sleeves to help raise money for the NHS.

Kempshott couple Paul and Rachel Elbro, alongside Kris Dale from Sherfield Park, run the Harlequin clothing, print and signage business.

Mr Elbro said like many businesses, their store has been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown.

"During this time we closed the doors to the general public, but carried on fulfilling orders for key workers," he said.

Whilst doing this we decided it would be great to be able to try and do something positive for our overstretched NHS."

That's when they came up with the idea to design NHS themed t-shirts and hoodies and started selling them online, ranging from £12 to £20.

"We decided that £5 from each item sold would go to our local NHS Trust," he said.

"Our customers loved the designs and we sold lots within weeks. We have raised just over £800 with £320 coming from Tadley dance school Dance Phaze.

"We have also topped it up to £1,000."

They have since donated the money to the Hampshire Medical Fund, with the money to go towards equipment for patients and staff at the hospital.

Mr Elbro added: "It felt great to be able to raise £1,000 for our local NHS Trust, especially during tough times.

"The loyalty, support and generosity shown by our customers has been truly amazing."
