It's the day that some thought may never come.
McDonald's hasn't opened in Basingstoke. Costa isn't serving any coffees around town. But KFC has opened its doors (or more specifically its drive-thru) to the public as of this afternoon.
And the people responded in their droves.
Dozens of people were seen queuing up outside the Leisure Park restaurant.
Gazette reporter Bethany Papworth went down to the scene to interview them (at a safe distance) about what brought them out this afternoon.
Nathan Swoffer, 28, from South Ham said: “We found out on Facebook on the Gazette page that KFC drive through was reopening.
"There’s a limited menu so not sure what we will get.
"The wait has been five minutes. I like the chicken, it’s so good and the gravy.”
Then we have 17-year-old Harry Williams from Kempshott who is a self-described KFC obsessive.
“I have been waiting five minutes.
"It’s so good the chicken and is pretty nice.
"My dad text me saying KFC is open. I got down there as soon as I heard it was reopening.
"I’m ordering three pieces of boneless dip meal. It’s about a fiver. I’m a hard core fan.”
