Two 2019 BMWs were stolen from residential properties near Basingstoke using what police believe to be ‘cloning devices’.
Officers say the thefts were carried out sometime overnight on April 30 into May 1.
A white and a blue BMW were taken from Bartlett Close and the adjacent St Mary’s Avenue in Bramley.
In both cases the keys to the cars were not taken, leading police to believe that ‘some kind of cloning device’ has instead been used.
Officers have urged residents to try, if possible, to keep electronic car keys in a security pouch or metal case to prevent it from being scanned by thieves.
Anyone with information relating to either incident is also encouraged to contact police.
Call 101 quoting crime reference 44200153108 for the Bartlett Close theft and 44200153168 for the St. Mary’s Avenue incident.
