MARIA Miller has spoken out after protesters were seen flouting government lockdown restrictions earlier this week.
Demonstrators from Basingstoke, Farnborough and Hook gathered at War Memorial Park on Monday, April 27, to take a stand against lockdown restrictions.
Hampshire Constabulary was called to the park just before 2.30pm and spoke to protesters.
One protester told the Gazette they believed that Covid-19 has been “exemplified”.
Conservative MP for Basingstoke, Maria Miller told the gazette: “Staying at home is saving lives by reducing the level of Covid-19 infection in our community.
“Whilst I fully understand how frustrating this is for some people, we have an obligation to others to follow these rules. For some this virus is life threatening.”
