The unlikely venue of War Memorial Park’s play area became the scene of a protest on Monday when an organised group who travelled from Hook, Farnborough and Basingstoke came to protest against the lockdown measures.
Despite the beautifully sunny and warm weather of the past month, the play park has been cordoned off and has been left unused as residents adhered to the restrictions imposed by the prime minister in March.
The protesters on Monday, however, honed in on the play area - climbing over the fence with their children in tow, to use the equipment. All the while, holding signs reading: “Save Our Freedom”.
It left me wondering whether this was a serious protest to defend freedom or just an excuse to use the play area on a nice day.
