FIVE more coronavirus deaths have been reported by the Trust that runs Basingstoke hospital.

It comes as the UK today (Sunday) passes 10,000 coronavirus-related deaths, with 737 recorded in the last 24 hours.

Figures released by NHS England today show that amongst the new deaths recorded since yesterday, five were at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals.

Seven new deaths were recorded at both Portsmouth Hospital and University Hospital Southampton, with none at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

It marks a rise on the number of new deaths recorded yesterday, when 11 were reported across the whole county with none at Andover, Basingstoke or Winchester hospital.

Nationally the UK has now recorded 10,612 deaths in total.

An additional 737 deaths were recorded in the 24 hours since yesterday's figures were announced, of which NHS England says that 657 of those were recorded in England.

Those patients that died in England were aged between 26 and 100 years old.

Of them, 42 had no known underlying health condition and were aged between 30 and 98 years old.
