I am not surprised that Hugh Sawyer was on the phone for 20 mins trying to report a serious pothole. Public services seem to move at their own pace, with no urgency. That's why any road 'improvements' lead to months of inconvenience.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly countries, like Japan, complete major infrastructure projects. How long have we been trying to add another runway at Heathrow? How long will HS2 take to complete and how much over budget, is anyone's guess.
Hugh asks, why it takes so long to fill potholes? I might have a clue, last week, four men in two lorries, filled a large pothole on Sullivan Road, near the Coates Close junction.
Two weeks earlier, I noticed that a large pothole had been filled in around the bend on Sullivan Road, near the the School. In close proximity to the two filled potholes, are numerous other large potholes, all left untouched.
One large pothole, is marked with faded white lines, but still remains untouched. Most of these potholes are on the bus route, so will only get larger, perhaps Stagecoach suing HCC for suspension damage might focus their attention.
If HCC are only filling one pothole per visit, is it any wonder there are so many potholes? Their repair teams must spend more time travelling, than they do filling potholes.
