The NUMBER of cases of coronavirus in Hampshire has increased by 16 in 24 hours.

This brings the total amount of Covid-19 cases to 267 in the region.

As of Thursday, Hampshire has the second highest amount of cases outside of London, as Birmingham overtakes with 290.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that 251 patients in Hampshire had tested positive.

The news comes after the first British inmate and a 21-year-old woman died of coronavirus.

And NHS England announced that a further 107 people from England who tested positive for the disease had died in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 578.

There have been 2,129 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 11,658.

Out of 11,658 coronavirus cases, 135 people have recovered.

The NHS announced today that 660,680 have now signed up to volunteer.
