Our MP Maria Miller fought hard for the funding for a new hospital in Basingstoke, however when you hear the words from the hospital “we are not commenting on how the money will be spent” and the dreaded word consultation, you know Basingstoke will lose out.
It is a sad thing for us all but not only that; also for the pioneering doctors and surgeons that have made Basingstoke a wonderful hospital.
With the massive expansion of the town over the next ten years we need not only to keep these doctors but a desperately needed hospital.
We should not have to go to Winchester, Southampton, Andover or Frimley for treatment. It should stay in our town.
The government keeps going on about the environment how much pollution there is , with cars travelling from Basingstoke to other areas this increases and what about the elderly etc.
I only hope the people of Basingstoke will stand up and give their voice and backing for all the hard work our MP put into getting these funds.
George Potten, Dryden Close, Basingstoke
