A PERMANENT resolution is needed for flooding issues of an important subway, according to councillors.

A group of Labour borough councillors are calling on Hampshire County Council to resolve the issues facing the path under Churchill Way West that links McDonald’s to Jo Davy’s garage.

The group, of Cllrs Colin Regan, Gary Watts, Stephanie Grant and Sean Keating, say that water from the River Loddon is seeping into the subway in several places, and the pump installed is just a “temporary measure”.

They say an investigation of the cause is the solution.

Cllr Watts said: “The flooding is causing much inconvenience for local people accessing the Leisure Park facilities, dog walkers and going to work.

“The pump can only be a temporary measure at much expense and HCC should treat the matter with upmost urgency to resolve the issue.”
