We've launched a petition calling on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and landowner Basron to respect the covenant signed in 1953 to protect the Camrose from development.

We believe it is bad value for the public to lose this vital sporting facility and the historic home to Basingstoke Town Football Club.

We believe it is morally wrong to go against the wishes of Lord Camrose, who signed a covenant to protect the stadium until 2053.

We therefore are calling on councillors to reject the planning application to develop the land for houses unless an alternative area is sought for Basingstoke Town Football Club so they can have their own home in the town.

Winklebury is not the answer as it deprieves residents of a sporting facility and limits what success the club can achieve.
