After months of anticipation, the UK is less than 24 hours away from leaving the European Union and officially becoming independent.

With Brexit Day happening tomorrow, our reporter took to the streets of Andover to find out what the public thinks.

Like many of us, retail supervisor, William Lewis, from Andover said "I'm fed up of hearing about it" adding "nothing will really happen until the end of the year anyway."

The transition period is set to last until December 31 in which the UK will remain in the EU customs union along with the single market.

Banking advisor, Silke Malone said she moved to the UK nearly 10 years ago from Berlin Germany but felt let down by the UK government after she was informed she was unable to vote in the referendum back in June 2016.

She said: "I think it's a big mistake and insulting for those of us who have lived here for so long for us not to be given a choice. Theres not much information given so I don't really know what's going on anymore."

20 year-old Lucy Hargreeves, from Basingstoke, said she has been confused about Brexit ever since it began more than four years ago.

"I think it'll be interesting to see what happens" she said, " there's been so much talk about it so it'll be good to see what comes out of it in the end."

The decision has left many Remain voters confused at the desire to leave the EU, as Martin Hill summarised this afternoon.

He said: "I remember when we first entered the EU back in the '70s and I just cant work our why they want to leave after 50 years when we worked so hard to get in in the first place. It's ridiculous."

Bricklayer, Steve Andrews, fully supports the Brexit move and can't wait to see how the country moves forward once it becomes independent.

He said: "I think it's a good thing, Boris said he was going to do it and he did. He's probably one of the few prime ministers who actually did what he promised he would do."
