A 53-year-old man was seriously injured after a car and a bike crashed yesterday lunch time.

The incident happened in Manchester Road, Whitefield, shortly after 12pm.

An Air Ambulance was rushed to the scene, alongside other emergency services, to what was described as a "serious crash".

The man, who was understood to have been riding the bike, was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.

Police confirmed that the driver of the car remained at the scene and no arrests have yet been made.

Manchester Road/A56 was shut between Hollins Brow and Radcliffe New Road yesterday afternoon to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
