A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with attempted robbery and assault.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with the attempted robbery of an 18-year-old man in Alencon Link, Basingstoke, on January 21.
He has also been charged with assault by beating on the same date and at the same location.
He will appear before Basingstoke Youth Court on Friday, February 7.
It comes after police ramped up plans to tackle such crimes by authorising emergency stop and search powers in Basingstoke.
Those powers were extended to last until midnight on January 21, an announcement that followed the news that 12 robberies had taken place in the town since last Thursday.
