A MAN from Basingstoke has been charged with threatening a woman with an imitation firearm in Popley.

Alan Brain, 34, was arrested on Saturday (January 18), and is alleged to have used an imitation firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence in Ascension Close.

Hampshire Police say that three other people, all from Basingstoke, were arrested in the incident, but have since been released from custody.

The man appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Monday, wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a grey jumper, where his case was sent to Winchester Crown Court.

He will appear there on February 19.

Remanding Brain into custody, Chair of Magistrates, Andy Butler, said: "Hopefully you have understood what is going on here today.

"You are being sent for trial to the Crown Court on this matter, and you are being remanded into custody until the 19th of February."

Being led away from the dock, Brain shouted out to two associates who were sat in the public gallery, saying: "I love you two."

Hampshire Police say that a 33-year-old male, a 41-year-old female and a 20-year-old female have all since been released form custody.
