ONE person has been taken to hospital having being trapped in their vehicle after a crash near Basingstoke today (Thursday), the fire service says.

The A33, near Sherfield on Loddon, remains closed after the incident, which took place this afternoon.

Police say they were called at 4.41pm and attended the scene, where one person was reported to have sustained ‘leg injuries’.

And the fire service now says that one casualty has been taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the highway.

“One casualty was extricated by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.”

The casualty was then taken to hospital, the fire service says.

SCAS has been contacted for a comment.

The A33 remains closed between Wildmoor Lane, near the Bramley Road roundabout, and Dixon Lane.
