TWO accidents in quick succession caused chaos on a stretch of dual carriageway this afternoon (Friday).
Long delays were reported on the A34 southbound near Whitchurch today, including tailbacks of up to five miles.
The disruption was caused by two accidents in the space of less than 20 mins and within a couple of miles of one another.
Police say they were notified of the first crash at 12.56pm, when a car and a van collided on the A34 southbound just before the Tufton Junction. One person suffered minor injuries.
And then at 1.12pm, a second collision, again involving two vehicles, was reported on the same stretch of road, just a few miles north near Whitchurch. Again, one person suffered minor injuries.
The carriageway has since been cleared with traffic moving through as normal, although congestion remains.
Delays of up to 15 minutes and speeds of 20mph have been reported.
